Our team of 15 (6 of whom were kids under the age of 14) spent the week in and around Santo Domingo in an effort of building hope with the gospel and a phase of a home for the Zapata family. Much of our time was spent on the job site helping to complete the framing of the walls and roof, while also sanding the bottom portion of the walls and priming it for paint. In the midst of the chaos that was the job site we had numerous opportunities to talk with people in the community and build relationships. As we looked for opportunities to share the gospel message, God certainly provided. We also had the chance to visit many former families we have built for and even dedicated the next build. As we typically experience on trips, despite the many physical and emotional challenges people in these impoverished communities are facing we are encouraged by their joy, doing whatever we can to show God’s love for them by loving, building and serving in the name of Jesus.
