Hannah’s story was shared with us through the fellowship group she regularly participates. A woman of faith, she shares a modest (and collapsing) shelter with her disabled adult son, and three grandchildren. Her other children have left the home to find work, so as a single woman Hannah is left to fend for the rest of the family on her own. The shelter is on a slope, remarkably small and if the right storm hits the area, the shack could easily collapse. We had the opportunity to visit with Hannah during our March trip to Kenya and the conditions the family are living in was startling – many holes in the mud walls. With a new home Hannah hopes for her son to have more mobility and for them all to live with increased dignity.
