The team had a great week in Eburru, Kenya last week with our partner Camp Brethren Ministries. We visited with over 10 families, some PF home recipients, some not. We attended 3 church services and shared the Good News with growing congregations hungry for the Word and even celebrated PF’s first church build in Crater Lake. The amount of children praising God in this church has us hopeful for what He is going to do in this community with the next generation!
The simple, yet challenging life in these villages seems to stir a deep faith and dependence on God. They have very little materially, but abundant joy. We heard many stories of expectant prayers and fulfilled miracles like Margaret, who planted a patch of grass seven years ago as a sign of her prayer for a new home – and now behind the grass her home is almost completed.
Pauline shared at her home dedication how God sees and uses the least of these to bring blessings to others. They believe her daughter Cecelia with special needs was favored by God to bring them a safe house. The family prays their new home will also bless the community and show God is loving and present.
We also spent time with Hannah, if you remember she is deaf and mute and had been the target of some local criminals due to her condition. With a never ending smile that was absent last year she proudly showed off her new home and radiated the hope that only comes from an encounter with God. She shared through a translator that she has peace and now sleeps well with her new home and knowing God is watching over her.
The team also hosted a field day for local children at CBM’s primary school. We played games, sang songs and the Brault family shared the importance of being moldable by God and imprinting His Word on your heart (using Silly Putty as an example). Almost 100 kids participated!
We are grateful for our time in-country and for our time with the PF volunteers that will continue to serve in the community daily. God has been so gracious to show us some of the fruit of our labor on this trip and we pray more seeds continue to grow. To Him be the glory!
